French Light Bites

French classics served warm for lunch with side salad.

Croque Monsieur

Croque-Monsieur is another very popular dish from France.

Great to share as a nibble, or to be eaten on your own for a nice comfort lunch.

It is 2 slices of white loaf filled with Béchamel*, Roast Ham and Emmental cheese, then topped with more Béchamel and Emmental cheese.

The White loaf is one of the rare things we don’t do ourselves. We get it from Mamar’s at the Old Bank, Warrington. You just can’t beat a homemade English loaf.

*Béchamel, commonly called “White Sauce” in England, is a thick sauce made of milk, butter and flour. Infused with onions and whole cloves.

French Onion Soup

One of our best sellers.

Originally, the soup is made of Beef or chicken stock, but we use Veg stock instead to keep it as an Veggie option.

The broth is very tasty, infused with bay leaves and herbs.

It is served with grilled cheese on bread.

Quiches

At Gourmand! café, we offer various kind of Quiches.

Served with a side salad, you will usually find 3 differents kind of quiche:

Quiche Lorraine: Lardons, Onions, Nutmeg and Parsley.

Goat cheese quiche: A.O.P Rocamadour Goat cheese and Leeks.

Roasted vegs quiche.

But depending on what we have in stock and our mood, we might bake other quiches time to time.
