Cheese & Charcuterie

At Gourmand! you will find the following:

French Cheeses

Brie de Meaux: Great with bread and chutney.

Comté Vieux: Fruity and savoury notes with sweet and salty undertones. Roasted hazelnut and caramelized butter aromas. Eat it like we do in our café: in a sandwich with cured ham and salad, or in a salad with walnuts, or just as it is with bread.

Camembert Fribois: £4/unit made in Normandy. Full of flavour leaving a rich salty taste on the palette. Perfect baked in the oven, or simply as it is on a piece of bread.

Roquefort: Roquefort cheese is made from ewe's-milk and comes from the Aveyron region in the south France. Together with Bleu d'Auvergne, Stilton and Gorgonzola, Roquefort Cheese is rated as one of the world's greatest blue cheeses. When you eat roquefort there is a flavour sensation that begins slightly mild, then sweet, then smoky, then fading to a salty finish. Roquefort can be paired with fruits, nuts such as almonds, walnuts and hazelnuts, dried fruits, crackers, fresh baguette or mixed with salad topped with walnuts.

Bleu d'Auvergne: A French blue cheese named after its place of origin in the Auvergne region of south-central France. The cheese can be made from raw or pasteurised milk and is sometimes attributed as a cow’s milk version of Roquefort (although it is much creamier and buttery). Less pungent than Roquefort and creamier than Stilton, it’s a cheeseboard favourite and can be crumbled on a salad, topped on a grilled steak or simply enjoyed with baguette or fruity bread.
